THIS IS A TEMPORARY, GRANT-FUNDED 2-YEAR ASSIGNMENT WITH BENEFITS. THIS POSITION WILL END WHEN THE GRANT ENDS MARCH 2015.
The Parks and Community Services Department seeks to hire a Public Education Program Coordinator to manage and oversee a newly created citywide initiative to strengthen afterschool and summer programs, working closely with area afterschool providers, school districts, and the community. This position will serve as a spokesperson for the initiative, as well as, a trainer and content expert in afterschool programs, standards, assessment tools and best practices. This position will be responsible for monitoring grant expenditures and event budgets, supporting a provider network and staffing committees. Successful candidate will demonstrate significant leadership experience, supervisory experience, and outstanding oral and written communication skills, including contact with high level executives.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Education, Recreation Management, Youth Development, Social Work, Public Health, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field PLUS three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations or marketing including one year of administrative and budgetary responsibility. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. Masters degree is preferred. Experience preparing and administering project budgets is required. A PowerPoint presentation will be required and a computer assessment will be administered during the interview process. Preference will be given to applicants who have excellent oral, written and training/presentation skills; experience with youth development programs, child care or afterschool programs; leadership experience, budget responsibility; and experience with collaborative initiatives.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Possession of an appropriate, valid Texas drivers license is required.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS:City of Fort Worth policy on acceptable driving record required.
Office environment with travel to various locations; requires working closely with others; automobile travel within the city required.
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting or standing for extended periods of time; general manual dexterity; adequate eyesight, speech and hearing required; must be able to operate assigned equipment/vehicle.
Conditions of Employment: Persons selected for employment into any position must pass a drug test. Some positions may require passing an alcohol test. Previous employment and any additional experience will be subject to verification prior to employment processing. A driver's license and driving record check will be conducted if driving is a job requirement. A post offer employment medical examination may be conducted prior to job placement. You will be paid by direct deposit or pay card only.
