The City of Fort Worth seeks a Professional Engineer for the Transportation and Public Works/Engineering department.
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or international equivalent in civil engineering or a related field PLUS (4) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience of which two years must be in the assigned area of responsibility in Traffic Engineering. Must possess registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or ability to obtain within six months. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Texas Driver's License. Must have knowledge of latest versions of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) and AASHTO Manual for Geometric Design of Highways and Streets. Preference maybe given for additional training, educatioon and/or experience related to the position
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Candidate must possess the ability to perform project and program management duties and professional civil engineering work including the planning, review, design, inspection, and contract administration of Street Improvement and Traffic Engineering Programs. Candiate must be able to work with citizens, homeowner and neighborhood associations, schools administration, city officials and other departments, in addressing complex traffic engineering and civil engineering requests. Job duties include insuring project compliance with appropriate Federal, State, and Local laws, codes and regulations. Conduct special engineering studies and reports and overseeing, directing and reviewing the work of technical staff responsible for performing technical civil engineering duties for various projects such as technical drafting and CAD operations.
Candidate must have strong interpersonal leadership and excellent communication skills. Must be able to develop, review and modify complex engineering plans, designs, and specifications.
Must be willing to attend homeowner and neighborhood association meetings as needed.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS:WORKING CONDITIONS
Field and office environment; exposure to computer screens and inclement weather conditions when conducting site inspections. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating assigned equipment.
