The City of Fort Worth is seeking a new team member for an Equipment Operator position.
Responsibilities include concrete maintenance and operations of various types of motorized equipment in performance of assigned job duties; to work in the safest manner possible and ensure safety of crewmembers and the general public. This position will be required to operate 12-yard dump trucks; pull trailer with backhoe and operate various types of off-road equipment. He/she will assist with concrete maintenance which includes setting forms, installing head walls, flat work and other concrete maintenance responsibilities.
Preference will be given to candidates with channel or drainage maintenance experience. Additional preferred experience includes operation of a back-hoe or a skid-steer. Additional knowledge and experience will include the ability to operate concrete saws, concrete vibrators, jack hammers, air compressors, hand tools and various other machinery and hand tools as it relates to concrete maintenance. Additional preferred experience includes setting up traffic control, operating a dump truck setting forms and paving knowledge.
Preference is based on years of experience; list years of all related experience on the application. Be specific listing the type of concrete experience you have, tools/equipment used and knowledge.
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
High school diploma or GED Certificate, with additional specialized training in equipment operations PLUS two (2) years of responsible motorized equipment operations experience required. Preference will be given to higher levels of education and experience as it relates to concrete maintenance.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Candidates must maintain safety and assist in traffic control.
Candidate must successfully pass the equipment portion of the test before moving to the panel interview.
Possession of a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record required plus either possession of a "Class A-CDL" driver's license, or the ability to obtain one, within four (4) weeks of employment with tank endorsement. Candidate must be able to successfully pass a DOT physical.
Candidates must have flexible working hours; capable of working four (4) ten hour shifts; Monday through Thursday. Additionally, this position may require working overtime or comp. time to assist with flood or drainage issues.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS:City of Fort Worth policy on acceptable driving record required.
Candidates will be required to work in diverse weather conditions and provide assistance to Stormwater emergencies including flooding. Working with machinery, around moving vehicles/objects, exposure to grease and oils, fumes from fuel and exhaust, vibrations, noise; some work in or with water.
Responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time; moderate and heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling; must be able to operate assigned vehicle.
Conditions of Employment: Persons selected for employment into any position must pass a drug test. Some positions may require passing an alcohol test. Previous employment and any additional experience will be subject to verification prior to employment processing. A driver's license and driving record check will be conducted if driving is a job requirement. A post offer employment medical examination may be conducted prior to job placement.
