The City of Fort Worth is recruiting for a Construction Inspector II for the Transportation & Public Works Department. This position inspects work quality and materials used in a variety of public works projects, including the construction, repair, maintenance, or alteration of roadway lighting and signal installations for new development project inspections and related structures.

The selected candidate will ensure compliance with City standards, specifications and safety standards; maintain records and prepare reports on projects inspected; coordinate light installations with other departments or contractors; ensure street light poles and luminaries are installed correctly and electrical connections are made properly and burn time on lights is adequate. Additionally, the selected individual will issue work orders to contractors and reviews invoices for accuracy.

Skills / Requirements

The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:

High School diploma or GED PLUS three (3) years of Construction or Inspection experience involving the construction, installation and inspection of roadway lighting systems required. An Associate Degree or higher in Construction Management, Construction Science or a related field strongly preferred. Proof of degree will be required if selected for an interview. Preference may be given to higher levels of education and experience as it relates to the job vacancy. Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel/Spreadsheet skills are preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Possession of a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record required. Possession of a Journeyman Electrician license is required. Master Electrician License is a plus. Bilingual--English/Spanish a plus.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS:Subject to being on-call and working overtime, including weekends and holidays to complete priority projects. Field and office environment; construction site environment; exposure to inclement weather conditions; work around heavy construction equipment; may be required to work on elevated structures; may be required to enter underground culverts and pipes.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; moderate to heavy lifting.
