The City of Fort Worth is recruiting to hire a Community Center Supervisor for the Parks & Community Services Department. To supervise and coordinate community center program activities and operations within the Parks & Community Services Department; to coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to senior management staff; and other related duties and responsibilities as required. The selected candidate will receive direction from senior management personnel and exercise direct supervision over professional, clerical and volunteer staff.
Chisholm Trail Community Center is a 19,995 square foot center that will open in late summer 2013. The facility will house a fitness room, aerobics/dance room, playcare room, gymnasium with rock-climbing wall, meeting rooms with kitchen, patio and garden. One of the focuses will be health and wellness. Preferred candidate will possess the knowledge and skills of fitness and wellness and have certifications in Aerobics, Personal Training and/or Health Education/Promotion.
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Recreation, Sports Management, Kinesiology/Exercise Science or a related field PLUS four (4) years of responsible community center service or recreational programming experience including one (1) year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience. Masters degree in related fields is preferred. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Windows computer skills required. Computer proficiency test will be administered during the interview process. Budget experience required. Heavy telephone and public contact required. Bilingual skills, English/Spanish, are preferred.
Possession of a valid Texas drivers license is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Possession of, or the ability to obtain, certifications in Adult and Child CPR/AED and First Aid is required and must be completed within first six (6) months of employment.
Possession of Certified Park and Recreation Professional Certification (CPRP) or Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) are preferred. Membership and active participation in NRPA AND TRAPS is preferred.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS:City of Fort Worth policy on acceptable driving record required.
Environmental Conditions: Indoor environment; working closely with others; light travel to and from various locations.
Physical Conditions: Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting extended periods of time; general manual dexterity; adequate speech, hearing, and eyesight; must be able to operate assigned equipment.
Conditions of Employment: Persons selected for employment into any position must pass a drug test. Some positions may require passing an alcohol test. Previous employment and any additional experience will be subject to verification prior to employment processing. A driver's license and driving record check will be conducted if driving is a job requirement. A post offer employment medical examination may be conducted prior to job placement.
