We have an immediate opening for an Administrative Technician to assist in Workers Compensation /Medical Records in the Police Department. Ideal candidate should be professional, able to deal with heavy public contact with both general and civil service employees at all levels, support Administrative Assistant and HR Coordinator and others within the department. Strong computer skills are required to handle the heavy workload.
Major duties include:
managing, monitoring and filing the medical records for all Police Department employees
preparing FMLA paperwork, entering injury reports, and assisting with maintenance and coordination of major medical leave, non-occupational injuries or leave, and military leave
daily update of departments internal medical records computer system
respond to a high volume of calls and e-mails and work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
assist other team members and perform other duties as necessary
The following education and/or experience (or its equivalents) are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
Associate Degree from an accredited college with major coursework in Business, Business Administration, Public Administration, Office Administration or a related field, PLUS two (2) years of combined complex clerical and routine administrative experience.
A high school diploma/GED required. PLUS four (4) years of combined complex clerical and routine administrative experience.
Knowledge of MS Word and Excel are required. Successful candidate will have intermediate level proficiency in Excel (create and maintain spreadsheets and build formulas) and must be comfortable navigating in both internal and external databases. Prior experience with workers compensation, FMLA and HIPAA a definite plus. Prior experience with detailed work and excellent customer service is preferred.
Selected candidate must successfully pass a polygraph, background check and drug screen.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:In addition, the Administrative Technician may assist with annual budget preparation by entering employee data into the citys budget system and will work closely with our Position Management group to advise them of employees out on leave. The selected candidate must be willing to learn all aspects of Workers Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act and USERRA to fill in during the absence of the Administrative Assistant.

Office environment; exposure to computer screens; working closely with others. Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; manual dexterity required.
